The 2018-2019 Bishop McGuinness Villains are STATE CHAMPIONS!
The Villains won the school's sixth state championship on March 16 in the Dean Smith Center over Henderson Collegiate by a score of 55-54.

Bishop Basketball Moments
Below you will see photos of iconic moments in our basketball program history since 2004!
2004- The Villains traveled to Mouth of Wilson, VA to play Oak Hill Academy which featured future NBA stars Rajon Rondo (pictured at FT line) and Josh Smith.
2006- JL Sadler ('07), Ross Diachenko ('09) and Brad Kenny ('07) were All-Conference players in 2006. Ross would go on to become one of the winningest players in Bishop Basketball history and win a state championship in 2009.
2009- The team celebrates after the buzzer sounds in the NCHSAA Regional Final vs Cherryville. Bishop went on the win the 2009 NCHSAA Championship the following weekend.
2009- Bishop celebrates its first NCHSAA title in school history. The game was played at NC State's Reynolds Coliseum. The 2009 Villains have the best record in school history with a 31-2 mark. Number 22 Michael Herschel ('09) would go on to win another title as a coach at Bishop in 2019.
2009- Aaron Toomey ('10) on the JumboTron at the Greensboro Coliseum during the NCHSAA East-West All Star game. Aaron would go on to win the NCAA D3 National Championship and become a two-time National Player of the Year.
2013- The Villains celebrate the NCHSAA tournament 1st round upset of #1 seed North Wilkes.
Reilly Callaghan ('13) hit the buzzer beating game winning shot!
2014- "The Shot"
Spencer Wilson ('15) heaves the shot that would beat Mt. Airy to win the Dedication Game- the story would garner national attention and be featured on the CBS Evening News, ESPN Sportscenter and ESPN's E:60.
2014- Spencer Wilson ('15) is carried off the court at the Krispy Kreme Athletic Center after making "The Shot" in the Dedication Game.
2019- Villain PG Mac McAlhany ('19) celebrates after taking a charge in a NCHSAA Sectional Final upset victory over #1 seeded Winston Salem Prep. The Villains would go on to win the 2019 NCHSAA title.
2019- Niel Ingle ('19) celebrates with the Pit Crew after the 2019 NCHSAA Western Regional semifinal win over North Stanly which sent Bishop to the NCHSAA "Final Four"!
2019- Mac McAlhany is lifted onto the crowd's shoulders after the thrilling 2019 NCHSAA Regional Final win over 28-1 North Rowan. Bishop would go on the win the state title the following weekend.
2019- Andrew Budzinski ('20) dunks the final field goal in the 2019 NCHSAA State Championship Game. Andrew would go on to make the game-winning free throw with .7 left on the clock to give the Villains the 55-54 victory over Henderson Collegiate for the school's sixth state championship.
2025- Nicholas Graves ('25) celebrates with Arop Chom ('26) and Alex Waterfield ('25) after the game winning rebound and putback to give the Villains the 2025 Northwest Piedmont Conference Tournament title, and their 51st straight conference win
